Step 1: Pull your Text Band Organizer off your shelf.

Step 2: Go to the reading level tab you need.

Step 3: Pull out the children's book at that reading level.

Step 4: Choose a skill or strategy to teach from our list.
|
Step 5: Read the children's book to your child or students until you get to the strategy post-it. Stop and say what is on the post-it to demonstrate exactly how to do the strategy.

Step 6: When you are done teaching the strategy, give your child or students a strategy card or sticky note from your Text Band Organizer that matches the strategy you just taught them. Now they know how how to practice the strategy over and over until they master it.
